Seeds

I went a little crazy today. found some seeds at bargain prices and made off like a bandit!!

How I will ever find enough room for all the flats I don’t know.
twenty-one packages…some are to augment what I already have and the rest are just ‘cause I want them…four o’clocks, larkspur, aster, corn poppies,forget-me-not, bachelor’s buttons, gypsophila, lettuce, calendula, castor bean, cosmos, snapdragon, zinnia, gaillardia, heavenly blue morning glories, italian parsley, Spencer giant sweetpea mix, jumbo zinnias, and nasturtium… going to get cardoon and tithonia, too.

need to dust off my grolites…and yes it is a little bit early…I’m having to be patient and it’s not easy.
Plans are for a cutting garden beside the composter. long and narrow, I think. want to buy some more crocosmia, acidanthera, and gladiolus corms…and this year some dinner plate dahlias.

I love cut flowers, and have always fancied a patch in my garden just for that purpose, but not sure my garden is big enough. How big would your patch be Lori?

Hi Andrea,
Where do you garden? city or country? From what I've read it doesn't have to be part of a kitchen garden or anything of that sort..and it needn't be a large space if you plant the big wow. and take the rest from your regular beds.
Well it's all hypothetical ...but I have done some reading..
The space available isn't large, but it is sheltered by a fence on two sides and the back of my shed on the third. It will get all light but late afternoon sun...I'm going to dig it about 3 feet wide and 10 feet long. Double dig to about 18 inches and add peat, topsoil, and compost. think I'll plant some zinnias, Dinner plate dahlias, glads and asters and snapdragonsand gyp. Maybe divide one of my peonies too. Maybe...lol. At least that's the plan for now...things can change.

Thanks for your reply, Lori. I may give this a go, will let you know how I get on. I wouldnt have a patch quite that big but could maybe try on a smaller scale.
