Rhys has come to us as his “furever” home… He was at a breeder and ready for retirement. Some wonderful family members and friends arranged for him to come to me. Our Rufus is a bit concerned having never had dogs around that stayed. T. is also adjusting, it was all very fast as we were contacted on Saturday…and picked Rhys up on Monday!
Rhys is very calm for a small dog… He was raised with Bouviers! So he doesn’t growl or exhibit aggression when he is face to face with Rufus. Both of them look doubtful..and head off in opposite directions!

I realize that Rhys isn’t exactly a Yorkshire name… His name was Ryot. Not really what we wanted in our quiet little place…so he became Rhys.

I’ve been a little depressed with our cold weather (which continues) but this little fellow has really raised our spirits.

Now we are four.

lThans Sbg, he took to that comfy chair immediately. My sister bought him a snuggly bed so he would be comfortable in the carrier. When I took this photo he was so relieved to be out of the car. He doesn't bark or whine but he's not a happy puppy in the car.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments, Rhys is beginning to get the hang of our routine and is at present having his breakfast while I check out GoY. (short trips back and forth from his bowl to my lap.) since he was used to living in a compound we've had some training issues... Yorkies are such individuals, with habits and behaviour specific to their breed, (or so I've read.) Rhys is teaching me and I'm trying to train him... we'll get on, I know we will.

How fortunate for Rhys that he's now found such a lovely home.

Lori he is a lovely little chap, I'm sure that in time he will be great pals with Rufus, just takes a little while for some to adjust to living amongst family, being treated as a pet, I wish you many happy and loving years with him....

Rhys is a Welsh name Lori :) and he's beautiful :)

thanks so much Linmar, Lincs and Hywel: He had a French name that didn't suit him at all... it was down to Rhys or Rhett. Rhys was closer in sound to his other name...so we went with that. he's become my constant companion..I can't turn around without making sure I don't step on him! It's going to be interesting when the weather changes and I'm outdoors all day!

Rhys is lovely. So glad he is a calm peaceful little fella. we have never had a dog, but it is very tempting, as dogs are so popular now. All their talents for rescue and tracking, sniffing out drugs has made them high profile on our TVs. He has grown fond of you so fast...wonderful. I am pleased to find you are thriving with your garden in the woods. I have not been on Goy so much recently due to health issues. I hope the weather gets better for you too and your spirits lift with sunshine.

Hello Dorjac... lovely to hear from you again. Rhys is a sweet companion... Rufus has come to feel more comfortable with him, bordering on feline indifference. I can see why people polarize around being a cat person or a dog person, but I have both and love both. That's not true for some, I realize, so, as the French have it..."vive la difference!" Rufus is loving in his cat way, while Rhys is adoring and so anxious to please that I'm quite flattered by his attachment.
Our weather is a complete disaster...today freezing rain. Hope our power holds out or we will be popsicles.
Are you considering a companion/dog? I recommend it. :-)

I can't really look after a dog as well as an 87 year old chronically ill husband. He is whole minded but physically frail etc. I would love a Cocker Spaniel. They are so full of enthusiasm. Tails always wagging and eager to play. No where nice close to to walk it either. Probably too hyper active for an older person. Sorry your weather is slow to warm up, as you do not want to be a popsicle. The winter here was called the "beast from the east". A present from Putin. I suppose it was a pussy cat winter compared to your freezing rain still falling. A cousin was given a rescue dog, a white Cockapoo, as they are very popular. This was for last Mother's Day! Holly, she rolled in fox muck on a walk...ugh!

Oh my! and they act so offended when you express disgust! "You don't like my new perfume?..."
Story from years ago: My friend had a Cocker Spaniel pup and took it on vacation with them. They visited a farm and the pup found the manure pile. It was mid-summer, sticking hot...with a stinking dog...
My first walkies with Rhys, he found turkey poo. "Kissies" took on a new meaning. Get the antiseptic!

Foxy smell not poo is just about acceptable. Such weird goings on in my towny garden. Soil holes in pots. Foxy toys strewn about. Eating my pears off the mini trees as soon as edible. Holes in the lawn, digging under sheds. Trying to excavate under our large hawthorn tree. Asleep under the hawthorn in broad daylight. Why do dogs roll in fox poo? Oh and Thursday was the hottest day ever recorded in April...Phew. I think we stole all your heat.

It's hard not to feel blessed when you have such an interesting foxy-garden feature. ;-) sounds wonderful.. Sorry... your description made me laugh out loud.
You're having summer already? It's a source of wonder, isn't it? Where did that heat come from? today we had our first spring-like day... the water is running wild in the stream. Rhys and I took 5 or 6 "walkies". it's wonderful after having been house bound with our second winter. Glad you're getting some warmth.

Glad I made you laugh Lori. The foxy doings have gone on for years. Old Alf next door said this was once a well fenced orchard many years ago. Urban foxes date more from the sixties, so maybe it was so rural then that foxes were denning in the orchard. This fierce heatwave was forecast well ahead. So was the wicked winter that has seen off so many older celebrities. Everyone called the severe winter "the beast from the east".
