Pond Slogging - The Sequel

Pond Slogging - The Sequel

Posted on 8 Jun, 2008 29 comments

\ \ There comes a point in a project, like the eye of the hurricane, where peace descends upon you and you realize that the optimist was right….every travail is only half as hard as it seems because once you’ve reached the middle you’re half finished!!!
I’m finally planting and tweaking… I’m sooo relieved to put up the hammock and plant the planters…I don’t think it will ever be complete…but it’s done!!! So I invite those of you who read my rants and (soft hearts all) sympathised with my angst to brew yourself a cup, or just have some brew…and sit quietly beside your own pond or in the depths of your vegetation and give two minutes to silent contemplation. This is my kind of party. Won’t you join me??!\

I like that "every travail is only half as hard...."

We had lunch today at 11am (we're on holiday - in the garden) and have just had another meal at 7pm - so we're ready for our evening shift! It's not work when you enjoy something as much as we do.

You're a bit of a philosopher Lori! This will look stunning when the planting fills out. The whole point of a garden is to relax and enjoy the fruits of your labour. My own pond incidentally has completely vanished underneath a jungle of planting -I'm going to have to get it back!

As the wise man said, there are three stages to every project: Impossible, Difficult, & Done.
Enjoy your rest, as you have definitely earned it!

Hello Lori, I finally get here and who says the party is over? It's just continuing with my visit here too. I love reading your blog. Have you been a teacher or something? Just curious! I like the design of your pond and the area it is in. It looks, how can I say, Tuscan perhaps? And you have a pump as well. Did you get any fish yet? I would love to see a picture a little further down the line when the waterplants have grown. I notice the black soil you have, what is it? Here is terra cotta.I need my lawn otherwise the dogs will bring in too much dirt on their feet. The lawn acts like a mat, lol. No worries to me,as my hubby mows it. Keeps him outof mischief. After all it is also his garden. I must say your arrangement is very artistic and I like it a lot. You know what the Aussies slogan is: didyebringabeer, LOL.
And now I am going to have a look in your garden.....

Hello Marguerite... sorry to be so slow in response!! I've just found your kind comments... lol. I posted an update picture and guess I didn't put it in the right place 'cause it turned up at the top of the blog, instead of near the end...ohwell... I also posted a pic of the shorn fall garden plants and the continuation of the patio stone.... it seems I'm never done..always in a state of flux...deadline in next spring...so will keep plugging and hope that I meet it. terra cotta would be clayey and acid right? I was thinking about your lawn mat comment today as I shampooed and vacuumed a pound of garden soil out of Mandy's favourite spot to nap!
Didyebringabeer? or maybe didyebringacuppa? Canuk to Aussie... smoothstuffaye? dooyawannabrew?
