What have you got as a hog house Jacque? I have a pot on its side but my hedgy is under my laurel in a pile of leaves about three foot away from it!...Just no accounting for taste.
Amy lol! If you find out what a lot of hedgehogs are called let me know!

I love the leaves of Verbascum more than the flowers. So soft and silky looking and so large! Trouble is here the caterpillars destroy them.
I have never used them medicinally. What do you use them for most?

Gosh! Already?! So sorry for your poor Viburnum Lori. We are lucky to get any snow and if we do it doesn't last. Like Hywel (Blodyn) I can remember lots of snow as a kid but not anymore. My kids are lucky to find enough for a snowball fight.

Is it Abutilon pictum ‘Thompsonii’ ?
http://images.google.co.uk/images?um=1&hl=en&q=abutilon+thompsonii
or Abutilon 'Souvenir de Bonn'?

We used to sell these at the nursery.
If keeping it in a pot you will need to prune it quite hard in the spring to keep it compact. They have a habit of dropping older leaves and can end up looking quite straggly.

Seeing as it is the rose and the fuchsia but not the hebe I would guess leaf cutters. These are bees and cut very neat semi-circles along the length of the edge of the leaf.

I agree with Nosey potter. Chances are the sycamore is still living and fighting back.

It may just be the weather this year Pansy.
A few in the gardens I worked in this year did not flower or flowered poorly. They do like sun and warmth neither of which have been in abundance this year!

It sounds like they were both somewhere warmer than you have them now.
The one that dropped its leaves went into shock and is now recovering, the other may have been a little hardier but is suffering now or is also suffering from something else.
First thing I would do is to knock it out of its pot and check the roots. Vine weevil love bay and chances are there is no poison in the soil to kill them because it is an edible plant. If that is not the problem then it may be that there is too much compost or it is too wet. Check the roots and see how much of a root ball there actually is. Bay hate being wet and most that you puchase are planted in multi purpose (soggy) rather than John Innes which is soil based and drains freely.
Hope that helps.

Welcome :) Every garden is a work in progress just how far you have got that is the difference lol!
Amazing what you have done considering. I have a friend with Meniers. Not easy to live with (the condition, not my friend lol!)
