I had a clemmie(Warsaw Nike) just stop... it was looking wonderful with lots of buds and suddenly the buds just dried up and it stopped flowering altogether... I thought it was dying but kept watering it anyway...and it came back and started blooming again in October!!! but the flowers were very reduced in size and not as numerous as the first flush of bloom...I haven't had much luck with them the last two seasons...they were stars the years before... sad, aye?

I always think that those luscious petals look like flamenco dancers skirts!! all ruffles and frills! lol. very wise of you to use natural light on the bright colours...I tried photographing some white flowers in my garden in broad daylight and found that it just didn't work... after dark with a flash or at dusk seems to be the ticket!!

A thoughtful friend sent me seeds for VB...I started it indoors and when I transplanted it ...it disappeared!!

OMG.... I wanted a gunnera for a bog garden ...it's too tender for my climate but~ man...would you look at the size of that!!!?

Interesting combination of the tall, bulky, vertical, colourful cannas with the whispy grasses...

Wow...another wow... your climate is much milder than mine, obviously, wonder if I planted one inside in pots really really early, if it would have time to bloom before frost?

The first time I planted anemones I was surprised by the size of the cormlets...had to soak them overnight...I was sure they were dead...also amazed that such a large lovely flower came from something so small!! Great photo!

So many people are wise to potting up their tender perennials...wish I had done that with some of mine...the digging is getting a bit tough on my old bones!

Such a distinctive plant... and that colour will stop conversation...wow! I've started an iris bed....looks like this is another prospect!! excellent photo too, it is difficult to photograph very dark or very light flowers.

The Aconite I tried to grow started very slowly...it didn't like being transplanted (necessary because I had to move the bed)...it flopped on it's side and I thought it was not going to bloom...but bloom it did...and it was so pretty...not as good a specimen as yours, I'm afraid.
I really like it's colour. and it seems to like compost...because that's where it's growing (compost pile). lol....heard lots of scary stories about it's being a deadly poison though...so I watch and made sure I didn't plant it near my dogs favourite sleeping spots!

Just planted some black iris that was on sale, hope it looks as good as yours! Funny, this is one of the few plants my kids were impressed by.
