Thank you Owdboggy, they are shooting up everwhere. Interesting how their leaves unfold.

Bonkersbon ~ I don't see any seed heads as of yet, but will keep an eye for them.
Yes, I'm very impressed with your currency knowledge. LOL

Spritzhenry ~ I will indeed post a picture along the way. How are you doing, and how does your garden grow?

OMG David, that is so funny. We were scared to death of watermelon seeds. We were told if we swallowed too many of them, a black baby would grow in our tummies. LOL
(With all due respect)

Thank you. I guess I will find out soon enough. The first of my 7 Rhodies has bloomed and it's scarlet red. I can't wait to see what the others are.

Wow, thanks so much for the information and history lesson, very interesting. I have many of those and every day I got out with my garden claw and get rid of a few more.

Thank you for all your information, you guys are the best!
I took the blossoms off (3) and it's a huge plant. When will I know when it's ready to use. I'm the only one that likes rhubarb in my family, but I will share with my friends. I do so love strawberry/rhubarb pie.

Thanks for the information.
Spritzhenry ~ I've only seen the one trillium in my yard and sure am enjoying it. It's even more fun knowing they are rare

Oh, thank you sid. I didn't realize they are Iris's.

Spritz ~ I only wanted to separate them so each would get their fair share to grow. I have so much viburnum, perhaps I will just cut it back a tad bit, so the Rhodie isn't smothered.

Thank you, believe me I take no credit for these beautiful treasures in my yard. We;ve only lived here 5 mos. and it's obvious the elderly couple who lived here put their hearts and souls into their yard and I just want to care for them. Who would have thought I would actually enjoy it.

Thank you so much Irish. I had an angiogram last year and my heart was great, but the procedure caused a stroke and has caused quite a few problems. Another rut on lifes' road.

Hi Mikec ~ No, not yet.

Thank you :) It looks great to me, and I wondered if perhaps this variety has reddish vines on the leaves.

My goodness, Fourseasons, you live in the garden of Eden. Breath taking!

Wyeboy ~ I looked it up and you are right, it is a trillium. Thank you.

Thank you Spritzhenry,
That is indeed what it is and I have a huge wall of it.

Spritz ~ Sorry about your clematis, those are so pretty and early bloomers too. I've been using beer and have gotten quite a few slugs. I guess they died happy... or indifferent, ha ha

Hi sweetpea ~ Welcome to the group. Although I know computers, I sure don't know gardening and these people in here have been just wonderful. Very helpful without making you feel stupid.

Xela ~ I love pampas grass and am going to check and see if they grow well in my area. We had them growing up and Mother would cut some and stick them in water with food color to decorate for whatever season she needed, and it only took a couple days for the tops to be colored. They sure do add to decor.

Hello Hedgehogg,
If you know of anyone with a camcorder you could use or if you could rent one, it might be worth you while. If it's a 2 legged critter, he could at least be charged with trespassing and vandalism.
I might be too blonde, but I don't understand how that would be any fun to damage plants for goodness sake.

David ~ Thank you. I believe it will be a positive experience for both of us. In our state they have what they call "pea patches" on government land, and you can sign up for a few rows free. The local universities offer free seeds and plants from their horticulture depts. They take care of the watering, but the rest is up to you. They are very popular.

Sounds like you're a bit ahead of us. My pear tree has buds, but no blooms yet. I love wildflowers. I never would have thought I would be remotely interested in gardens, but it kind of grows on you (excuse the pun). Im off to pull a few weeds. I still have a blood clot on my lung so can't do much, but I just enjoy being out there.

Hi Jacque,
I love it, and am anxious to see if it ever gets any leaves. Is it Spring yet at your house? Around here, it's about every other day. LOL Has does your garden grow?

Harli

Mike ~ Yes, I do think I picked the right person. Her husband is leaving in 3 weeks for Iraq and she is so glad to have the garden to help. My husband was in Viet Nam, and before I met him I had a fiancee who was killed in Viet Nam, so I sure can understand her feelings.

Spritzhenry ~ That was the first things I told her. The whole garden has a layer of that weed and they will be the first thing she does. I removed all from the rest of my property.

Thanks for the information. Whatever it is, I love it. I don't think I've ever seen a tree with flowers that didn't have leaves. Do you think they will show up later?

Harli

Thank you Mike, but I live in the USA in Washington State. I had 23 people reply to my ad to use the garden within 24 hrs, so there are lots of gardeners out there.

Thank you Spritzhenry, that is very kind. I learned a long time ago to take my life one day at a time and deal with whatever comes along as it does. This too shall pass.
