We were honoured to receive a very special visit today from
The Lord Mayor of Bristol- Councillor Christopher Davies and The Lady Mayoress Mrs. Susan Davies. They were also joined by our local ward Councillor, Mr. Ron Stone.
They arrived at 2.30pm this afternoon to view our garden which is the smallest garden in The National Gardens Scheme.
The regional officers from The National Gardens Scheme also joined us and met our special guests.
The County Organiser for the N.G.S presented the Lady Mayoress with a beautiful arrangement of summer flowers.

Afterwards we all enjoyed a traditional cream tea in our dining room- homemade scones with cream and jam, fruit cake, Continental pastries and a Victoria sponge, and, of course, a cup of Assam tea!
We all enjoyed a memorable afternoon together, and our guests departed in the official Lord Mayor’s limosine.
The event was covered on our local B.B.C television and radio.
We were allowed a very short rehearsal, and then we were interviewed live on B.B.C television!

Later the local B.B.C radio station interviewed us and the Lord Mayor live on- air.
It was a very exciting, memorable and enjoyable day.

Hi Irish, - yes it was broadcast lunchtime and this evening on local B.B.C T.V and radio. The phone has been ringing busily this evening as well with folks enquiring about the garden.

WOW! Well done, both, you did it - and so well! You must be exhausted now. So glad it went off as you'd hoped. You both scrub up well - like the haircut, Grenville. ;-) Were you expecting the media? I'm going to look at BBC Bristol now - must see it all!!!!.... Later...Good interview, shame they got the size of the garden wrong!

Hi Spritz. We received phone calls this morning informing us that B.B.C television would be arriving early afternoon to do a live broadcast from the garden, and the radio arranged to do a live interview link via my moble phone and with The Lord Mayor's mobile, so it was all very exciting but there was no time to really think about a rehearsal as such. It was a wonderful day, and everything went exactly to plan. Phew....we are going to put our feet up now!

I just googled <BBC AND Bristol AND garden> and my attention was diverted by the headline "Mystery surrounds the discovery of a dead dolphin in the garden of two sailors in Dorset who live half a mile from the sea"
"Mr Harvey, 23, said: "I woke up, looked out of my window and saw what appeared to be a dolphin in the garden."
Now, we've had cats, dogs, ducks, frogs, toads, hedgehogs, deer, possoms and goodness knows what else. But anyone else ever come across a dolphin in their garden?!
Edit - found the correct article now - what a busy day you had - hope you're putting your feet up now :-)

Many congratulations to the 'Mafia' boys .Not sure how you accomodated everyone that visited can just imagine the cables and wires that must have been trailing around your home and garden. That your front room ? Wow no wonder Lady Mayoress looks so at home !

Bonkers how very nice to hear from you! You appear to have been very quiet lately. Do I detect a subversive plot being hatched?
On a serious note yes there were T.V camera cables trailing over part of the house at one stage, but it was fun. The photos are of our dining room.
All best wishes,
Grenville and Alan.
