Odds & Ends of Gardening this Month

After having surgery on my knee to repair damage from a fall this winter, I haven’t been able to get out & do that much in the gardens, but at least I did get some veggies started. They were grown in containers this year so that it would be a bit more manageable. Of course we had to have tomatoes…

green beans…

some small peppers…

leaf lettuce & spinach…

and swiss chard!!

This year I took the easy route to planting my annuals & purchased plug plants rather than starting them all from seed. I put impatiens & geraniums in the front borders to add a bit of colour, then did a few containers as well.

I did manage one larger project. I don’t know if you remember the new iris & daylily border that was put in last year? In a burst of energy I dug a border in one afternoon in 80* weather to move my poor crowded plants , but the reward was in seeing how nicely it came up this year!

I can’t wait for it to be in full bloom!
However it did convince me to add a front border, making a corner garden in the yard. This year it took me a week to accomplish what I did in one day last time, lol, but persistance helped… hopefully it will fill in as nicely by next spring.

Thanks Sewingkilla ! Yes it is a verbena, don't know which variety, it was an assorted 4pack of plant plugs...

I remember you doing that border last year. It looks great now. Sorry to hear of your injury. I hope you'll be back to normal soon.

Thanks Hywel! I'm getting there, just wish I healed as quickly as I did when young, lol!
