Stanstead Garden Show, Hampshire

Me and my friend went to Stanstead Garden Show , Rowlands Castle, Hampshire yesterday – it was a lovely day – lots of hot sunshine and plants everywhere – heaven!!!

There were lots of stalls, even some as far away as Devon (about 5 hours from us in Hampshire). The only complaint is that some of the stall holders had obviously increased their prices – you have a captive market in a show like this but as we had paid £7.00 just to get in, it did seem a bit steep.

There were some lovely tents with people like “Jimmy’s Farm’s sausages”, and lots of people showing off their crafts and even one lady selling off some “big knockers” (dont ask what I said to my friend about needing them!!) lots of reclaimed things for hanging in the garden.

Overall it was a lovely day – enjoyed by all considering the amount of plants people were taking backwards and forwards to the cars. Will definately go again next year – maybe see you there?

sounds like a great day out, were you tempted into buying any plants?

I went there on Saturday with my wife and boys (3rd time). Became quite expensive like you say with the entry price.
I did restrict myself to only buying things I really need.

Obviously there isn't anything at a garden show that I really do need, so I bought some drift wood(see my pics) and a pot. My wife bought an Agave a Sempervivum and one of those bronze grasses that looks more dead than alive.

It was a great day out and even my boys enjoyed it, especially the youngest as he won a huge Teddy Bear on a raffle stall.

Well worth a visit next year.

Some herbs - the guy that grows them seems to really know his stuff and they have all survived!! - a lovely Lemon Verbena which smells like those sweets that are lemon with sherbert in the middle? My kids just like to sniff the plant and its the first one they take to their friends to try!! Also some Valarian, Basil, a cue (only need one) and a aubergine (again one is enough for us and it seems silly growing lots of seeds - always sow too many!!)
My friend brought lots of penstomens to fill her borders. Overall a good day!
