When I was a child we had a budgie who used to sit on pictures etc and peck the wall paper off just above. My mum was always moving pictures up a bit to try and hide the mess, but of course they could only be moved so far before the looked odd. Then it was time to decorate so he could start all over again. Sadly one day someone left the door open when he was having a wing stretch and he flew straight out, never to be seen again. I was heartbroken.

What a naughty bird Gee, vandalising your lovely abode. Our black and white hooligan, Henry the cat, used to pluck the carpet in sneaky corners and prance off in triumph when I shouted after hearing the noise. When he first arrived he ran up the newish nets after a blue bottle!

Time for some budgie DIY lessons?

Poppy is a lovebird, Stera, and has a very strong beak - I wear gardening gloves when feeding her. She is friendly but on her own terms. I am allowed to touch her water but not her seed bowl :)

My daughters parrot picks at the wallpaper constantly, Waddy. What a shame about your little budge, I would hate to lose Poppy although she is a pain at times.

Oh Dorjac, I can just imagine your Henry running up the net curtains. It's a good job we love our animals, isn't it?

Many apologies to Poppy for my ignorance, I will look and learn! Looking again I can see - I hope she didn't feel insulted. OK then, some Lovebird DIY? I chuckled at her attitude to her property - how do you manage to wash out her water bowl - do you wait until she's asleep, lol?

Poppy isn't upset at all, Stera, she's too full of her own importance! The water bowl isn't a problem, I'm allowed to remove that and refill it. The seed bowl is a different matter - I wear a gardening glove, making sure my fingers don't reach the end, then put that in the cage for her to bite on, while I sneak the other hand in to take out the seed bowl. I use the same procedure to replace it. Simple, as long as I'm quick :)

She needs a mate to play with Gill ,that would keep her busy Lol :o))

Many years ago my son had Lovebirds so I do know how lethal the beak is to our fingers and they don't let go if they're in a strop do they.
We have confetti type bits in the dining room, courtesy of the cat Tipsy, even though we provide scratchpoles she is a beggar, thankfully she doesn't do it to the furniture or curtains, at the moment we are trying to persuade the kitten that the xmas tree is not his newest toy and doesn't need redecorating every day..
Very amusing blog Gee, Poppy looks so comical and was certainly caught out that time, no amount of blame could possibly be laid at the feet of the energetic pair on the sofa, lol.
Added to my favs..

That's a relief Gee, lol!

I think a mate would be very hen pecked, Amy :) I did think of trying to get a mate for her when I first adopted her but they are very difficult to sex so could be a disaster if I ended up with another female :(

Thanks, Lincslass, Poppy has nipped me once or twice and letting go doesn't seem to be a option for her! I can imagine your kitten re-arranging the Christmas tree each day - keep your camera handy :)

Such a funny blog Gee! My Mum used to let our Budgie sit on her head when she cleaned out the grate of the open fire in our sitting room, back in the Fifties, and forgot it was there when she went out to the bin with ashes ... bye-bye Budgie I'm afraid! :o(

No tree for us this year for hte same reason - Ro is no longer a kitten but nobody has told her...

The tree has not been knocked over yet although we've had a few near misses, this morning Toffee was more than halfway up it with Caspar draped around the base, it took two of us to remove them without knocking the whole tree down, I will admit I videoed him and took some great pics before shouting for help as it was so comical......Hubby says I mustn't smack his bottom as he wouldn't like me , now how soft is he, lol....

Clever!

Had to read your comment twice, Lincslass, before I realised whose bottom you mustn't smack :)
