Lovely blog Gee. isnt this rain exasperating so much for the drought! At least your new bird bath will be kept full. I wonder if that duck egg was infertile and so was pushed to one side?

You have such an interesting garden Gill there's always so much going on ,it was nice for you to see the ducklings healthy and growing and another set making arrangements in your maternity ward garden .
A smashing choice of shrubs and I love that Black Phormium and all those pressies , you lucky girl :o)
I wonder if a rat had the egg ,I know they had eggs in our Fan tails nesting box . thanks for the lovely blog :o)

I think a rat is quite likely, Amy, we do sometimes have a problem with them living so near the pond :(
The bluebells are in our local wood, Carole, so nice to see them but I bet it is very muddy and slippery up there after todays heavy rain.

I read the first comment 'On the way to the garden centre ...' and wondered why the animals were going there! ... Then all became clear ... I love the wildlife in your garden Gee, and yes, those Ducklings have grown so much in a short time ... wonderful ... we have a pair of Blackbirds and a pair of Robins foraging for food all day so you can imagine how upset I was to find our cat brought a tiny baby Blackbird up to the door this evening ... :o(

Thanks you all. Dorjac, my grandson calls me Mrs Doolittle, not because I'm clever with animals but because I talk to them all. My neighbours probably think I'm a little bit crazy but who cares, I'm happy :)

Still the rain cometh down this morning. We had the grass cut yesterday in between showers. Then I raked out lots of dead moss, put some grass seed down, and trampled it with a board. Just to take advantage of the rain. Your new lawn is looking good GEE. Worth all the trouble. I love those little ducklings, well grown and fluffy still. After that I got soaked just posting the letters.
