Right i’ve done it found veg plants bought from good garden centre Peas, Golden Globe Onions, Spring Cab and Purple Broc. How about that i’m so excited. The Cab came with instruction as did the peas but nothing with the Onions or Broc what do i do with them plant them obviously but how far apart and do i firm or not help.

The lady in the garden centre said that they are all fine to ‘over winter’? and that i should protect them i have a big clear strong plastic sheet thing from when we moved could i rig this as a protection do you think? any ideas welcome. She mentioned Straw.

We have some strawberrys which i’m going to move from their current home (tubs) to the veg patch what do i need to do with these the fruit is so tasty i don’t want to lose them.

Oh the sheet is several meters long and wide and I have canes

I think the lady was talking about mulching heavily for cold protection with the straw and that is really popular here on strawberries. I use plastic for protection on my stuff in the early spring if a cold snap is predicted and as long as you keep it up off the plants with supports and remove it as soon as the temp gets high enough that should work just fine.

Around for mild temps and cover when frost is predicted, use plastic also if a hard freeze is predicted!
