OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING, OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY.......

What a difference a day makes, awoke this morning to blue skies and no sign of the wind (weather wise lol) today is a special day as it is our 49th Wedding Anniversary….yes I was a child bride!! lol
We had been sent a ยฃ5.00 token to spend at one of our favourite GCs and it was burning a hole in my pocket, so off we went, it didn’t take long to spot a lovely big daisy with unusual coloured foliage and a large Sildalcea Elsie Heugh had one many years ago, but it never came to anything.

Next stop was Pococks Roses, had decided before we left home we would be buying Eyes for You and a couple of small roses,….. well, as soon as we saw how the rain had ruined Eyes for you that was off the list, then we saw this fantastic rose (well, we think it is) called Brush Strokes, so different from anything we had in the garden so that went in the trolley straight away, could not find roses that were small and highly scented, but found another climber that likes shade and is vigorous and scented called Summer Wine, and OH being a keen fan of Last of the Summer Wine, we had to have it.

We then went to Hilliers for lunch, which was excellent…
The Sir Harold Hillier Gardens is famous the world over. Among its outstanding features are the splendour of the planting displays each season. The Gardens offer 180 acres of beauty, inspiration and discovery. Over 42,000 plants from temperate regions around the world grow in a variety of themed landscapes to be studied, conserved and enjoyed all year around.
Unfortunately we could not go round the gardens as we are looking after our daughters dog, so we had to get back, took a couple of pics with my phone but they were not good, but the trees we did see were amazing and we will certainly be back…..
The weather was perfect, in fact it was just a perfect day…

This is the rose, I think it is stunning, scented as well…

Peony open love this one…….

Another Clematis, not sure which one though (as usual) will add pic of the daisy tomorrow as it has closed up for the night, and the rose Summer Wine has yet to open, also Elsie has yet to flower….so that was our lovely day, hope your day was as good……

Sorry I'm late congratulating you on your anniversary ... but I'm always lagging behind ...
The Sir Harold Hillier Gardens sound interesting. I'm glad you'll be going back when you have more time to see it all.
Your unknown clematis looks like Hagley Hibrid ... don't know if someone has already mentioned it. I haven't got time to read all the other comments .

I love that rose A...you're right, it is a bit 'different'! rhubarb and custard? ;) Glad you had such a lovely day. I would love to visit the Hillier gdns. The Hillier display at Chelsea is always my favourite thing in the show...although this year it didn't grab me quite so much on the telly, but last year's was just incredible, I was almost in tears!

Hi Karen, was not sure you would like the rose, not every ones choice, not mine a few years ago, but thought it was time to try something a bit different.
It was a pity we could not visit the gardens, will certainly go back, the garden must have been very special to move you to tears.....how lovely.

I'm the same with the roses....my taste is 'expanding' ! :D

27 Jun, 2012

I do not like the garden to get staid and boring, now if plants do not respond they are taken out and something more suitable is put in their place, shall be pleased when the open garden is finished then we can start making plans to change certain areas, always on the move that is me, a restless soul lol
