He'd have to BYO the beer, but yeah, you could seem him making the effort to get at the TV. You guys are a riot.

Yes, Japanese beetles are nasty buggers. They're shiny, almost irridescent beetles and they ruin the roses, the clematis, the gayfeather, the raspberries....probably the roses are there food of choice.
They also have this nasty mating habit of multi-partner things going on. Ugh.
Our squirrels like the bulbs and apparently mums and asters. However, I think we can get around that in the future with grating or something. Other than that, they're out and outright birdfood thieves. No remorse, no attempt to give up the bad habit - and we even provide them with their own food! So, I think they're more like pigs with bushy tails!

Wish we could have caught him with his paws up against the window - with his tummy showing. He's a funny little guy. Thanks for the comments.

How pretty. I've never had any luck with dahlias - but this sure makes me want to try again.

Beautiful. Tried growing once before, and they died. It was in our early gardening days - I should try again.

Spritzhenry, gorgeous new hot bed. I like your reasoning for heading to the garden store!!
We have a tendency to focus on purple and pink...with an occasional yellow. I like calm colors - but I think we could use a hot color garden spot. Sounds like a reason to expand!

That's the first thing I noticed, too. The beautiful leaf shapes. Pretty.
Is that a dwarf bleeding heart I see? The squirrel dug mine up!! Not nice.

Nice picture. Lots of color. Have to laugh, that's our grass, too. I'm beginning to think that's what grass is here in Ohio - weeds!!

Chrispook and Spritzhenry,
Well, when we bought it - it was called Rose of Sharon, Chrispook.
As for the name - it could be one of those, or some other - this was planted before we knew enough to record the plants we planted somewhere. Sigh. Three-quarters of what's planted I have no name for.

Thanks for writing, Nancym. I'm wondering if Princess Diana is just going to be a late bloomer compared to most of the Clematis. That would be ok with me. I love Clematis.

Tussiemussie, I like that poem. Might have to find away to use that in my garden somehow. Thanks for sending.

Gillian, did you make this? It's so cute. Are you using it for the birds, or simply lovely decor. I would love to make something similar. It's so bright and happy looking.

This is such a pretty setting. You've created a peaceful little homesite for the birds. Great shot.
