waiting for Morning..

Day before yesterday morning was warm for a winters morning…so spring like..I sat out side in my pajama’s, robe and slippers on a teak, park style bench on my deck, camera in hand, steaming mug of coffee on the bench next to me while I watched this morning come…I was not alone on my deck waiting for the dawn…Larry my best buddy in all mornings waited with me….

Mt. Rainier across the bay and islands, waited with me…….

Red Tail Hawk on one of his favorite roost limbs waited with me planning to find his breakfast at first light…

The Cascade Mt. range in the north east waited with me. I heard a loons lonely call below the bluff on the bay there where he waited………

This Bald Eagle on his favorite of all perches was there with me……..waiting for the light he fluffed his feathers and adjusted his stance, turned his head and looked for the light.

Excited starling calls…hawk and eagle take flight …..seagulls call out..mine…mine, crows caw….

Then….at last ….the sun!….. It makes it’s Good morning tidings as it lights the mountains, the islands, the water and me ….and…the day begins….

Stunning photography, Cat, and your descriptions are excellent. Well done on this blog. xxx

Well I don't wear pyjamas or a dressing gown so I would probably be arrested for my display. I would not have got up at dawn and even if I had it would not have occured to me to sit outside to watch the sun rise. I would have got dressed before going out on a winter's morn. Having experienced it through this blog I have learnt what I am missing: the beauty of dawn, the great light in which to see the world and practice photography, the best time to see the birds, a longer day of light and someone to share it all with. Thanks for sharing the experience through this lovely blog.

Actually Margurite..I live in a small town...over looking Port Townsend Bay....LOL...I see my neighbor out his his pajamas and robe in the summer time very early as well...he has his coffee in his garden that way...and the lady who lives with him joins him in hers as well...LOL..
I am glad you enjoyed...

5 Feb, 2009

Thank you TT...it was enjoyable..

5 Feb, 2009

GF...? Does this mean you will be going out at dawn now with your camera and standing on your lawn in your birthday suit to catch morning light pictures?

5 Feb, 2009

My lovely Sisty...of course you and all of GOY was with me..I had all of you in mind as I took the pictures...I am glad you like it ..thanks for the like by the way...xx

5 Feb, 2009

Sid & Arlene...so glad you enjoyed...!

5 Feb, 2009

Beautiful scenery and photos. PS. Glad you like me Hywel, lol

5 Feb, 2009

Queen Catfinch - Well I think I should give this a try. I have checked when sunrise is here and it is at 7-50am tomorrow. It is 20 mins earlier where you are. I will take some pictures but I am not sure that the birthday suit bit will help. In fact it is so cold I would probably have camera shake problems. So in the interests of good pictures I will have to wear something nice and warm. I know I will not be able to match your stunning photos for which I have given you a well deserved like.

5 Feb, 2009

I am so dissapointed ...My Knight...the birthday suit would have added such intrigue...lol...and perhaps attract less so the wildlife would come much closer....I would think of it as the cave man effect...sneaking quietly through the grasses silently and with no bulky clothing on to frighten them a way...camoflauge body paint? How about that? You will have to wait for wamer weather for this of course........

Oh... and thank you for the like... ^..^

5 Feb, 2009

As what should I camoflauge myself I wonder! Does anyone have any helpful suggestions?

5 Feb, 2009

I think your sheeply self would do well...but then I am sure others may have more dynamic thoughts on this.....

5 Feb, 2009

5 Feb, 2009

Beautiful photographs Catfinch. I sometimes go to bed at dawn but rarely get up then! I'm sure, compared to my morning attire - pyjama bottoms, long dressing gown and wellies, you look divine.

5 Feb, 2009

Thank you BB...he flew in at just the best time...the sun just began to peak enough to light his head ,,,I made chucking noises to make him turn his head and was thrilled that it worked when it did...got the shot just before he thought there was enough light for fishing...and flew off.

5 Feb, 2009

Thanks Milky...was the way the morning dawned...nothing I did...LOL...

5 Feb, 2009

LOL...Linclass...glad to see we've managed to boggle your fine mind....thanks and I enjoy the company of GOY too..

5 Feb, 2009

Thanks,Ginellie...LOL...I have been known to wear the same attire as you..with my cowgirl boot slippers...or if I have to go outdoors...what ever is the easiest to slip on... boots ... etc...
Before you go to bed at dawn next...take some pictures...that will work.

Thanks Sal..good seeing you round...!

5 Feb, 2009

~if you went out here in your pyjamas at the moment Caroline, you would get frostbite, hypothermia and arrested!

5 Feb, 2009

Oh what a beautiful blog Cj....what a joy to sit there with the wild things and await the new day...love the sound of the loons and the bluff. I've read lots of American Novels especially books by Anne Rivers Siddons and love the romantic sounding American terms. Just lovely!

5 Feb, 2009

Arlene...arrested for pajamas? really..? Oh dear...!

5 Feb, 2009

Thank you Janey...I don't think I have really thought of those words as romatic. Just verbalizing...nice that you think that though... Thanks again.... : -)

A wonderful blog Catfinch , it was just like being there with you , such lovely views and to see an Eagle like that is just amazing ......
I am never up this early ..you are more likely to catch me in my pyjamas late evening in the summer outside in the garden relaxing and smelling those marvelous night smells, they always seem so intense then. x

5 Feb, 2009

what a fantastic blog and stunning pictures so atmospheric, I have a cuppa in my hands at the moment just wish I could be sat on that bench with you instead of in front of the PC but thanks for sharing those wonderful moments with you.

7 Feb, 2009

Thank you PP..would not have minded the company at all...love having some one to watch it with me...Larry is ok...but he is more waiting to see the first birds than the sunrise....lol

7 Feb, 2009

Would have loved to have been there with you Cj. I miss the coastal mornings. I'm often out here with my cozy pj's, snow boots and a jacket in the winter and just pj's in the summer. I love to watch the world awaken.
I used to be able to see Mt. Baker when I lived down there. It always amazed me how much bigger the mountain appeared at dawn and at sunset. It seemed to grow and shrink with the changing light. Do you find that with Mt. Rainer?

7 Feb, 2009

Yes I do find that with Mt. Rainier,Gilli...so big in the mornings..lit by the morning sun...I can see Mt. Baker from here too...just the top but it has a big top..looks a bit like a bite out of it from my angle. Not today of course it is all grey and foggy looking this morning...not a break of blue anywhere...In the evenings they all look smaller with the sun setting and leaving them in the shadows..glad you love your pj's for watching the sunrise too...lol...I believe we are birds of a feather...I would love to watch a sunrise with you too...

7 Feb, 2009

Me too Cj....Maybe I'll come and camp out on your deck. :o)

7 Feb, 2009

Anytime Gilli...I do have a guest room..LOL...with a view... but the deck is up high so it is better...and the coffee maker is upstairs too..so you would have to come upstairs for coffee and then onto the deck with me and Larry...bring Molly...Larry will behave...

7 Feb, 2009

Those mornings are cherished and kept close to the heart. It is nice to be able to share those moments. Being a morning person I always want to share them with someone as well, and there Gilli you capture the essence of the moment and shared it so well. Good on you

7 Feb, 2009

Doon?...LOL..you giving Gilli credit for my blog?..Gilli..what have you been up too...LOL...that fairy supping sauce again I bet...
