The Bush I am talking about is a shameful thing..and yes it has made me quite unhappy....~Cat

We'd rather like an election over here, too, Cat. No further comment necessary. Glad you're happy with the outcome of yours!

Very Happy Spritz...and Irish...no worries...what time is it there right now..it is 1:55 pm here and I am still waiting for customers to walk through my door for 3 more hours before I can go feed horses and settle in for the evening.

sorry CJ, it was 22.30 when i sent that message, then decided to go have an early night, waste of time that was lol took me hrs to get asleep

Poor Eileen - I do sympathise! Lack of sleep is NO fun, is it. I have that problem and I believe that Hywel does, too.

Best thing is to get up and read and/or have a milky drink, rather than toss and turn. Hope you sleep better tonight.

thanks Spritz, thats exactly what i usually do , have a good collection of books handy. lol maybe we should take up gardening at night, the neighbours would certainly know im nuts then

I get up early enough and my day is on the go as soon a it is daylight..so I am exhaused by the time I manage to get myself off to bed..I sleep like a rock an wake again around 4:30 in the a.m.

Cat - that's why I am sometimes to be found answering questions and commenting on photos in the middle of the night! Then I go back to bed and (usually) get another hour or two of sleep. At least, being retired, I do not have an alarm clock or HAVE to get up at 6.30 as I did when I was working!

13 Nov, 2008

I don't use an alarm clock either...I just wake up...I could sleep much longer but I'm done with it.

13 Nov, 2008

I get sleepy sometimes in the afternoon after a bad night but I refuse to give in! So I keep busy instead.

13 Nov, 2008

Cat i don't live over there but i was so pleased when Obama got in.Sometimes i dont sleep very well at nights, i wondered if its something that happens when we get older, i'm retired.

I think I get my insomnia from my grandmother. She always used to say " I was walking the planks again last night ".
I got rid of the old bedroom carpets when I moved here and still haven't got new ones, so I literally walk the planks.
I'm glad you're pleased Cj.

LOL..I pace when I am really stressed out...but when i am having a hard time sleeping I often turn on the tv..it seems to get my mind out of gear and off I go. I like the sleep timer on the tv...it works well for me..I also read but the tv works better as what I am reading I usually get too interested in to sleep. There is a place on the internet called jigzone.com I can also make myself dose off while trying to put one of their jigsaw puzzles together...might want to try that too...LOL..normally when I hit the pillows I am pretty much ready to sleep..6 hours sleep is perfect for me.

A TV documentary screened here in the UK recently featured President Carter, it showed how his thinking was far sighted and relevant today, he was just out of his time.

Ha ha - nice one Cat! I think your bush was very diseased indeed and definately malfunctioning, going by all the mispronounciations it was dropping all over your lawn!

BTW, I'm an insomniac too....could it be a gardener thing I wonder?! You'd think we'd all sleep like logs after all that digging and watering and mowing, etc!

I never had anything against Carter...he did a good job for the time he was in.

I got quite worried about Sarah Palin and the publicity she got over here was interesting, to say the least. The image change she did was amazing - in the bad sense of the word. Her policies? - not really touched on. John McCain's publicity took a nose-dive when he chose her.

~am having problems sleeping at the moment although not usually~and am feeling so tired~took nytol herbal and slept some of the time but still fluey~ and woke up this morning feeling very dull and heavy~does anyone have any tips to clear this other than a walk?
I'd love to but grey, miserable ,and raining outside~ are we all suffering from a touch of SADS?

15 Nov, 2008

Palin was an embarassment to the women of our country and the whole of the country actually...to think that our system could even allow someone such as herself to be in line for the highest office in our country was simply wrong and to have them even think for a moment that we women would vote for him because she is a women was a slap at all women's intelligence...it was insane.

~ I agree with you CF~ insulting to say the least!~you can just imagine her finger on the button in an emergency!Help?!!!

Thanks for this string of informative comments. The word bush has at least three possible meanings and two of them have already been mentioned. The third would involve having a shave and I very much doubt Cat is sharing such personal details with us.
The absence of a before and after gardening picture and the omission of any plant/tree names led me to conclude this is not about gardening at all. I find it incredible that the remaining Bush ever got planted in the White house garden in the first place. It struggled throughout it`s two seasons and produced no beautiful blooms whatsoever. I am pleased you have decided to weed it out and start afresh. I am too much of a novice to comment on the Palin rose. I am full of hope for the growth of your garden under the stewardship of the new head gardener. May the ground force be with him and we move together closer back to the garden of Eden.

I do believe the bush was planted there by unscrupulous gardeners and not by the proper gardeners....that is how it got there...it was an invasive weed actually and was hard to get rid of, will be glad when the last of it is gone.
