Is this near Park Mill. I always remember the smell of wild garlic when I went past there. But I do like to see it, and the bluebells of course.

Very nice Arlene. They were saying on TV the other morning that its a bad year for the bluebells due to the bad Winter and dry Spring :-(

I think that could be right Dawn~ it is very dry here this year and I think they have suffered.
Thanks Hywel~
BB `apparently the woods owners are starting a programme of thinning the trees to let more light in, which is a bit of a double edged sword as there are lots of nice beech trees, hopefully they will leave the best ones..
We have been coming into the wood since 1974 and I really just want it left as it is~ not a big fan of managed woodland particularly as they are talking about putting chippings on the path ~total horror!~I don't like walking on chippings and it will really spoil the naturalness of the place.

I thought the wild Bluebells were late this year. I thought it might have been my imagination but I see it isn't. There are quite a few gardens around here where Bluebells grow without being "bothered", almost as if they were wild. These seem to flower about two weeks before the wild ones. Many years ago there was a wood here that had millions of Bluebells, or so it seemed to me at the time.

There is a partial wood on the edges of Castle Hill here in Huntingdon & you can see 100s of them flowering now as well. Only they tend to grow in isolated clumps. I took some photos just last week. I have photos from other years as well.

Lovely blog Arlene,
I took 50 people up to our local bluebell wood yesterday. On Thursday Rachel and I did a "recce"of the walk. The sun was out and we could really smell the bbs. But yesterday it rained a bit and the flowers didnt open up so well.
A good walk despite that!

We went to our daughter's house on Saturday afternoon & I saw she had several clumps of Bluebells in her tiny front garden. I took a couple of photos of them!
