I don't know what it is ... they love the garden gnomes and all that, but they find fairies kind of .. well ... just odd. You should see the faces of my parents in law when they see my fairies! Not their scene at all - I think they think its my 'British eccentricy'! But I'm scouring ebay for some nice garden fairies and they will all be inhabiting the garden soon - I'll post some piccies as soon as they've settled in, ok?

Yes you are right, roses are MY THING. I planted them all when I got here (this was all abandoned waste land...). Like yourself, I find rose gardens warm and welcoming! Am off to have a look at your pix now!

Hi Chrispook, those are very interesting ideas, I particularly like the rose arch - I've been thinking about that for a while, just not sure on the arch dimensions and things but it would fit in perfectly wouldnt it? I like your ideas and will explore them carefully! Thank you very much!!
Xela : yes that is lavender : we live just outside of Lyon, in the Rhone-Alpes area. I love smells in the garden - especially lemon verbena, lavender, roses ... wonderful wifts creep in through the kitchen window as I'm doing the washing up!

Yup - she is very very cute, and I'd like to get her a few friends but garden fairies are very very difficult to find in France. But I haven't given up the fight! I will find more yet!

A beautiful, reknowned garden, famous throughout France for its fabulous roses. A stroll through this Parc de la Tete d'Or is sheer joy for gardening fans, particularly if you have a penchant for roses
