Blimey 47 Coleus seeds germinated in 4 days. All appear great in my propagator but only one of my 6 geranium has germinated so far. Put some sweet cherry tom seeds down today but will have to keep my eye on them as they may germinate quickly. I lost seedlings last year by following the packet instructions which were not applicable to my propagator environment. Still very cold outside, hope it gets warmer as the seedlings will soon have to be potted on. My good lady dislikes too many plants in the house. All ready for my greenhouse tomatoes. The buzz has started folks, its early days yet but I feel great. Take care all Tony

Lovely photos Tony.

I've been growing coleus seedlings too, I started some off weeks ago and they're doing OK, not too leggy in a South facing window. I sowed some more last Friday and not noticed any coming though yet....

Good luck with your seedlings, I love coleus, so easy and colourful:)

Great pics Tony. regarding the tomato seeds.I had some that germinated so quickly and due to horrible weather I didn't go in my potting shed for a few days and they got incredibly leggy(as documented in my blog) I really was caught out by them germinating in 3 days...incredible!!!!

Not one of my Coleus seeds has germinated! I think I'll have to buy another packet. I did follow the instructions on the packet - maybe that was my mistake! :-(

Smashing photo's Tony.. It is a WOW as regards the Coleus, I must get some as I really like them, no luck last year but lets face it the weather was a put down for so many, I have geraniums and cherry toms in my airing cupboard, only popped them in this weekend, Alicante and Moneymaker both in greenhouse and doing well so far, cucumbers potted on today but still in the dining room, I'm taking no chances so they're staying indoors for a few days yet, its been grand today and I felt a real buzz...YAY..........

Hi Louisa15 Yes my main fear is any leggy seedlings. They can develop so blooming rapidley. I have lost many good results by not being more observant. Take care hope all goes fine for you. Tony

Hi Paultheguard Your spot on as i have to juggle my seedling planting with my unheated greenhouse. The seeds germinate and i hope the weather heats the greenhouse. From house to greenhouse fingers crossed. Take care hope this season is good to you. Tony

Hi spritzhenry If it helps my fault in 2012 season was i found my propagator was drying soil far to fast. I tried putting tray in small amount of water this year and have up to now had quite good results. Coleus being a surface seed also need excellent light so i tried foil around the tray. Hope all goes well for you . take care Tony

Crikey Tony, what are you going to do with all those Coleus seedlings ! Everything seems to be doing well for you !
I'm a bit disappointed this year with my rose cuttings. They did so well last year and took in such a short time. But this year I took 10 of my Bonica rose as everyone, including me, love it. I promised friends cuttings and now have to let them down as there are only 2 out of the 10 that have took ! Of course Elizabeth will be first in line ! At least my toms. are doing ok !

No toms up yet though. Have to check up on bonica rose as that really is a new plant i havent heard of before. Wellies still in mothball,s they may see the light this weekend. Take care Rose ,hope your Tom,s do fine. Tony

I can't believe you've got Bonica Rose Tony. Thats my favourite of all roses and if you want to see how big it grows its on one of my early blogs of 2011 I think its the one thats called "A walk through the garden in June". But I have many photos of this rose and as long as you've got the room , it will flourish and flower all summer into Autumn. I did cuttings of these last year which were very successful. This years unfortunately , only 2 took !
Couldn't you invest in a little green house heater, Tony. I have always had one and they don't use much electric and you can start growing much earlier.

hi spritzhenry Thankyou , i have 3 out of 4 geraniums up but those tiny tom seeds nearly escaped my gaze. Hope they don,t go leggy on me. I missed them as they were virtualey invisible in the surface cover of vermiculate. Take care Tony
