Frost on lawns and very cold but the sun was out and the birds were in great numbers on all my feeders. Is,nt that odd? they came out of the tree,s in very large numbers. Sparrows, Bluetits, and my special freind a tubby Robin. I would have thought they would be all snug in nests due to the cold. My good lady thinks we have young again in nest box but surely its far too earley yet. Hunger probably brought the birds out but i was very pleased to see tubby Robin on the scene. The Robin in summer lines all his familey up on the fence and they appear very regimental. Last year we counted 4 little ones. Put 5 grease ball,s on line and stocked up 4 feeders. Poor little things provide enjoyment for us so its the least we can do for them. Take care enjoy Tony

We've had a mild damp day Tony, but still lots of birds enjoying the freebies, that's when my two pusscats and JR aren't out of course. A special pair of collared doves, which Ian says were mating, so maybe your good lady is right, things are a bit topsy-turvy this year aren't they? Like you we have our own Robin who visits, only on his own though and never with family. Loads of Starlings that spend the day viewing ours and neighbouring gardens from the church tower close by, and a couple of Blackbirds and a Thrush, I spied. Saw a Great Tit swinging on the fat ball earlier, so all in all, I think the garden birds so far this winter are like us, quite happy with their lot, and long may it continue....:o))

I think Driad maybe right as our feeders are right outside the window where we eat and they always seem to eat more especially fat balls and suet , and a few days later the weather turns cold.I wish you'd taken a picture of this family of robins. We have a pair of them at the moment.

Those wee birdies will have you eaten out of house and home, Tony! No wonder so many have all decided to come and live at your house, they know a kind heart when they see it!! We have a pair of robins that live at the front of the house and another pair at the back, and it's lovely to hear them singing, that is, when they're not punching each other's lights out for territory! lol!
