Lovely sunny day. I looked from my window (shed) onto my very hungry subjects (27 sparrows at least) and my cupboard ( seed tin ) was bare . I motioned to my good lady “have we bread” the reply was quite instantaneous" have you feet ? " so off i went to the kitchen. I returned with food for the masses (now about 27 sparrows 8 or 9 robins and a windswept starling i think). My bird fountain was covered with the little fellows so i stood back and sent crumbs in that direction. I then sat and watched the crowd Luncheon. Very, very hungry lot they were to. I thought how is it that the birds eat my bread, Muffin (the pup) eats my rich tea and everyone eats my blooming lettuce even Fred (the tortoise) and i have nought on my plate. The answer was put in front of me by my good lady and i will not share my salad or small portion of gooseberry pie with any of them. I can only apologise for the fact i had home baked bread and they had a slice of crumbed Hovis. Take care all enjoy Tony

Och! Ma wee hearty!! You're back! you and the gang have been sorely missed, well, I've missed you anyway!
Aren't the wee birds hungry at the minute?! We were at a BBQ at Keith's sisters today, and they were giving off something terrible to each other...noo! the birds! not Keith and his sis! They were fighting over the fat balls you get for them, there were dozens of them, everything from sparrows, ringneck doves, finches, although I thought they only ate seeds and nuts, to lumpin' big magpies and starlings!! The fat balls are hung under a big laburnum that has been kept at about 10ft, but with all the leaping about and squeaking and shrieking, it just looked like the whole bush had come alive! It kept us entertained all afternoon! You're very generous with your wildlife, Tony, it's not surprising you have so many visitors! I hope you enjoyed your 'goosegab' pie, I'm sure your good wife was looking after your health, and didn't allow you any cream!
Internet to the house isn't fixed yet!! So I'll have to get off the work computer, I do miss Goy though, and I'm glad to see you back! Take care! Have fun!

You are a real bird lover Tony. At least 27 sparrows! As I mentioned a few times on this side, I have not seen a single sparrow in my garden for 10 years. Many robins, black birds, wood pigeons, Magpies, many other species but not one sparrow. I really do not know. I heard about sparrow disease but I am not sure what the true reason is.

Hi bloomer Glad you liked the blog. Yes my good lady rules but i am the master in my shed. Sorrey thats not quite right now as i cannot find some of my tools after Valerie tidied up(LoL). Don,t know where the bird,s are all coming from . Its absolutely amazing , they just take over. They fill all the water bath,s (i have 3 ) and swarm like bee,s over the feeders. Was,nt like that last year, i wonder if its anything to do with the warming we hear about. Hope all goes well in your garden. Take care enjoy. Tony

Hi coshad We have quite a lot of sparrows ,Robins and Starlings every day but i must admit its become very overwhelming with all three lately. I have 9 Bird boxes in position and they were all occupied earlier this year. Now its birds young and old all over the place. They actually weight for the feeders and water fountains to be filled then they are on them very fast. My good lady photographs them from the kitchen. Hope all goes well in your garden, take care. Tony Ps We have a yearley visit from a wood pigeon we named Scooby.
