Very nice!

You have my sympathy after all that heavy rain, although we've had nothing like a hurricane. I hope you can save your mums.
From 30 down to 8 Chris ! That must have been a shock. lol

We certainly do send you our sympathy! We have a spell of dry weather here at the moment - well, some of us do! It's greatly appreciated, as you can imagine!

i think our sympathy must go to your side of the pond, for all our lousy weather we don't get hurricanes , if we did i may give up and emigrate!!!.................steve

Theres always work to be done. Here in Hungary the weather suddenly changed. 30 C last week, today 8 C. We have had rain on and off for last few days and now my plants are looking battered too.

What a very nice cat you are, sweet Sadie Lou,
with a very sensible, loving owner.

So did i but i'm fine with it now.

Me too - I thought no-one was posting blogs for about three days before I realised what was happening

I have to admit that I found it a bit strange at first, but now I know how it works I'm OK with it.

Good to see you back on GoY again, and hope things continue to improve for all of you.

Hi - sorry to hear about the fall and all the stress. It's very worrying when parents reach a great age. Nice to have you back.

I hope you'll be able to have some time for yourself now. You need it.
My mother has come to stay with me since last year and I can understand the worry and stress this must have caused you.
Best wishes, Hywel.

nice to have you back on GOY , sounds like you need a bit of a rest now after all that happening. hope your mother in law is ok now.

Hi nice to have you back, hope your mother-in-law will be ok. She is doing well though.

Glad to hear that the newspaper worked well for you. It does make a big difference doesn't it... And just think, the worms get caught up on all the latest news and sales :)

Glad that method works for you. Probably in the end when all paper has rotted away some weeds will emerge through, but they'll be a breeze to pull up through all that mulch.

Roses love a sunny hot spot

Your Coleus plants are beautiful with the contrast of the Hostas, do the Coleus survive the winter or are they annuals?

Hello Sadie Lou, you have the same name as my cat Sadie aka Sadie-Poo and just as adorable...lol!

Couldn't we all! Heleniums that are supposed to be taller than last year's but are hidden at the back , a Miscanthus which has failed due to not enough light - it should have been nearer the front of the border..... etc etc. SIGH!

Very pretty 1198! My latest purchases were more the shade type also. Impatiens and I too put in the vinca, the solid green and the variegated. I had the vinca in a large half wiskey barrel with a lavender that I gave to my son when I moved to apt. I love the vinca it is very hardy and blooms perfect little purple flowers!

I love the birdies too! I miss them very much as when I was in my home before apt. living we had many feeders up and suet. We loved bird watching and identifying them! One day I just happened to be out at the right time and saw a little flock of Cedar Waxwings right over our roof chasing after a hawk! I was so thrilled to see such different ones than the usual at our feeders! Your setting is lovely!

I guess we all learn by experience. It's amazing how a compact perennial That looked right near the front of the border when I bought it last year turned into a giant this year and will have to be moved to a more suitable spot. I have tha same problem with trees and shrubs. The Chamaecyparis that I envisaged as a tall stately tree has been hidden by the Tamarisk shrubs in front of it. I could go on with similar examples.
