Looks like a Broad bean to me, stick it outside & let the bees get to work on the flowers, then your grandson can enjoy his own fresh veg later

yes it is a broad bean. I used to do this with my classes too.
put it outside during the day and then in at night for a few days before planting out either in the ground or in a larger pot.
